After opening its own young driver academy, Audi is expanding its project F1 by choosing its first development rider. In this case, the selected rider is none other than the Swiss Ralph Boschung, who notably managed to climb as high as Formula 2 on the pyramid of the carHaving spent seven seasons in the feeder series to F1, he is indeed the only driver to have competed in all the seasons between 2017 – the year Formula 2 was created as such – and 2023.
Although he had announced his retirement from motorsport in February 2024, Ralph Boschung nevertheless began to share multiple posts on his social media accounts related to Sauber initially, then Audi very quickly during the 2025 season. It can therefore be assumed that his work with the German team, particularly with regard to the simulator, could have already begun a few months ago.

More specifically, the Swiss driver joins Freddie Slater among the drivers participating in Audi's F1 development program at this stage. As the first driver officially confirmed as part of the Audi young driver academy, Slater naturally enjoys a very different status. Highly regarded in single-seater categories since his debut in Italian F4, the Briton is considered the favorite for this new season.
