Williams Williams announced on Wednesday, May 20th, that Victor Martins, a development driver for the Grove-based team, will be present in Montreal to serve as reserve driver. This is not the first time Victor Martins has held an official trackside role with Williams. The Frenchman previously participated in a free practice session with the British team at the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix, and he now returns to a Grand Prix weekend role for the first time since that appearance.

Having joined the Williams Driver Academy at the start of 2025, he has progressed this year to the role of test and development driver, working closely with Alex Albon et Carlos Sainz from the factory on the development of the car and the fine-tuning of the settings during race weekends.

His entry into the reserve driver role in Montreal comes at a unique time: Luke Browning, the regular driver in that position, is simultaneously competing in the fourth round of the Super Formula championship in Japan. For Martins, this Canadian week represents another opportunity to immerse himself in the Grand Prix environment as an active member of the Williams paddock, at a pivotal moment in his development within the British team. The French driver is competing this year in the World Championship.Endurance with Alpine, and also competed in the rookie trials in Formula E with Nissan.
