Several drivers in the current peloton, such as Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz or Isack Hadjar, were present on the pitch of the stadium that usually hosts AS Monaco. Today's match pitted them against the Barbagiuans team, composed of former football stars, mainly from ASM, such as Ludovic Giuly, Flavio Roma, Gaël Givet and Sébastien Squillaci.
The goal was to raise funds for two organizations. First, the Jules Bianchi Association, which works to support the Care Unit for Severe Brain Injury Patients (USCL) in Nice. It was there that the French driver spent several months convalescing before his death in July 2015. The Be Safe Monaco association, founded by Camille Gottlieb, is committed to combating drunk driving and promoting responsible behavior.
The Barbagiuans won 6-4 against the Nazionale Piloti, despite a very nice free kick from Carlos Sainz, taken by Norman Nato, and a penalty scored by Pierre Gasly. A fun way to warm up before the Monaco Grand Prix for the drivers, most of whom then attended a private screening of " F1 : The Movie”, the official film of the discipline, which will notably feature Brad Pitt next June.
