To Carlos Sainz, the outcome of the 2024 financial year of Formula 1 was synonymous with the end of his adventure with Ferrari and the beginning of a new era with Williams. During the post-season trials, the Iberian was cleared by the Team to ride for his future team. A special moment since he was still under contract with the Italian firm which could very well have forbidden him to do so.

Wearing a white overall with no branding or sponsors, the new recruit to the Grove team was able to discover the FW46 by completing some 146 laps which ended with a second best time behind his former team-mate.
