A journey through time. This is what Jenson Button was entitled to during the last British Grand Prix in July. Indeed, Williams took advantage of the round at Silverstone to allow the 2009 world champion to go back a few years.
As is often the case recently, and particularly during the British Grand Prix, historic cars were entitled to a few laps on the sidelines of the race. Thus, Jenson Button was able to get back on board the Williams FW22, the car powered by a BMW engine which allowed it to make its debut in Formula 1 in 2000.
« Williams is part of the lives of many drivers, he emphasizes. The team offered us the opportunity, whether it was me or other drivers, to discover this discipline. I remember walking into Sir Frank's office (Williams) where he said to me “Jenson, you are going to drive the FW22 alongside Ralf Schumacher“. That's when everything changed for me. » The start of an adventure completed 17 years later with 50 podiums including 15 victories, 8 pole positions and above all a title in 2009 under the colors of Brawn GP.
