At the green light, the Hungarian's Elantra maintains the lead over Ma Qing Hua's Lynk & Co. The first lap was hotly contested and the main victims of the various clashes were Nestor Girolami and Yann Ehrlacher, sandwiched between the Argentinian's car and the Cupra of local driver Rafael Reis. The double world champion returns to the track 3 laps behind to rank 20th in this second race.
Michelisz manages to resist the attacks of Ma throughout the round, who lets his teammates Bjork and Urrutia, better ranked than him, pass in the championship standings. Michelisz won ahead of the Swede and the Chinese, the Uruguayan having been penalized for overtaking beyond the limits of the track. In the TCR World Tour standings, Michelisz is 15 points ahead of Esteban Guerrieri, the winner of race 1, Yann Ehrlacher is third, 32 points behind the leader. The next round of the TCR World tour will take place in Uruguay from August 2 to 4.
