It's the end of an adventure that lasted more than 20 seasons. Four-time champion in GT500 (2011, 2012, 2014, 2015), the top category of Super GT, Ronnie Quintarelli will bow out of the Japanese championship at the end of the year. His departure at the end of the season finale, the 300km of Suzuka (December 8), was announced Wednesday in a press release from Nissan Motorsports & Customisation (NMC).

An announcement made at the request of the 45-year-old Italian driver, who will leave Super GT after his 137th race in the Japanese championship. Deciding to end my activities in SUPER GT, which has been the center of my life for a long time, was a very difficult choice, says Quintarelli. However, I believe this is the right time to step back and let a new legacy begin.

I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me through the toughest and most rewarding times. I thank all the fans who have cheered me on, the many sponsors who have supported me, the GT Association who have given me a platform to compete, my teammates who have fought alongside me and Nissan/NISMO.

Thanks to all of you, I have been able to live a dream life. I would like to personally thank everyone at the NISMO Festival. Furthermore, I will give my all behind the wheel of my dream car until the last corner of the last lap of the SUPER GT finale at Suzuka. »

Originally from Verona (Italy), Ronnie Quintarelli is the record holder for drivers' titles in Super GT.
