Regularly disrupted by rain in recent years, the Daytona 500 is expected to adapt to the weather conditions once again, with a high chance of showers in the late afternoon and evening in the United States. The race will start at 20:13 PM French time.
La NASCAR The decision was therefore made to move the start of the race forward by one hour, in an attempt to complete as many laps as possible before the potential arrival of rain. The American championship even hopes to be able to run the entire 500 miles, but if rain were to fall, only half the race would be completed for the result to be official.
For his 21st Daytona 500, Kyle Busch (Richard Childress Racing/Chevrolet) will start from pole position alongside Chase Briscoe (Joe Gibbs Racing/Toyota). Busch has yet to win NASCAR's flagship event, despite being a two-time champion in the category, in 2015 and 2019.
William Byron (Hendrick Motorsports/Chevrolet) will attempt to write his name in Daytona 500 history by becoming the first driver to win the season's most prestigious race three years in a row.
