Brodie Kostecki sparks controversy

The 2025 qualifying session has already entered the Supercars record books. Never has a session held on the Mount Panorama circuit been so close. The top 25 are separated by less than a second. Brodie Kostecki (Dick Johnson Racing) set the benchmark time of 2:04.037, and Thomas Randle and James Moffat, 10th in qualifying, are only 0.230 behind Kostecki's time! As a reminder, only the 10 fastest times are invited to compete in the SuperPole, which will take place early this Saturday morning (8:00 a.m. - Paris time).

Feeney in the right rhythm

This qualifying session is an important moment because it is the first time that the contenders for victory really show their hand. If Kostecki proved to be the fastest, the winner of Bathurst 2024 was very acerbic on the equivalence of performance between the Ford Mustangs and the Chevrolet Camaros. The DJR driver deplores the lack of top speed of the coupes at the Blue Oval: " We give them back 2km/h on average over a lap. Over the length of the race this can really hurt us, it's a real shame because all the elements are in the possession of the organizers to have real parity between us, it's really shitty!» Jamie Whincup, second fastest with Broc Feeney (Camaro- Triple Eight Engineering) when questioned on the same subject, preferred not to enter into the controversy. The satisfaction for the boss of the Brisbane team is to see that his teammate and championship leader seems in the fight for pole position. The disappointment is strong for Wil Brown and Scott Pye who will not participate in the superpole, the 2024 champion having only set the 12th fastest time! The punishment is even harsher for Matt Payne and Garth Tander (Ford Mustang-Whole grained Racing) 18th. The comeback will be interesting to follow for the second in the championship. Bathurst 1000 is always a very tactical race and during which the weather could play a role (rain is possible during the first hours of the race, editor's note)

See you tomorrow to see if Feeney/Whincup will be able to stand up to Kostecki/Hazelwood.
