Jeddah – Qualifying: The #51 AF Corse Ferrari on pole, the #7 Aston Martin far behind

Alessandro Pier Guidi, Alessio Rovera and Davide Rigon took pole position for the final round of the year in GT World Challenge Europe, in Jeddah, in the No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari. With the point from pole, the Italian crew is back to within two points of the leaders in the Endurance Cup.

Jeddah – Qualifying: The #51 AF Corse Ferrari on pole, the #7 Aston Martin far behind

  • The crew of the Ferrari AF Corse – Francorchamps Motors #51 got the job done on Saturday morning for the final qualifying session of the year. Alessandro Pier Guidi, Alessio Rovera and Davide Rigon took pole position in Jeddah, for the first time the GT World Challenge Europe has come to Saudi Arabia. The all-Italian crew set the best average time over the three sessions held on the Corniche circuit in 100'1″59, ahead of the Lamborghini GRT #396 of Franck Perera, Marco Mapelli and Jordan Pepper.
  • An excellent operation for the crew of the n°51 and in particular for Alessandro Pier Guidi and Alessio Rovera. Thanks to the point of the pole position, the two Italians return to only two points of the leaders in the Drivers' standings of theEndurance Cup, a position occupied by Nicky Thiim, Marco Sorensen and Mattia Drudi. The crew of theAston Martin Comtoyou Racing No. 7 only obtained 18th place in the combined classification of the three sessions and will start in the middle of the pack on Saturday afternoon.
  • A difficult qualifying session also for WRT: the BMW n°46 of the trio Rossi – Martin – Marciello is only 23rd in the combined standings, while the #32 BMW of Charles Weerts and Dries Vanthoor – the overall leader of the GT World Challenge Europe, which includes the Sprint Cup and Endurance Cup – follows in 24th position. The Belgian duo, joined by Sheldon van der Linde in Jeddah, are battling for the championship against the Mercedes Team Mann-Filter n°48 of Maro Engel and Lucas Auer, who will start 6th on the grid.
  • In the other categories, pole position in the Silver Cup was taken by the #26 Saintéloc Racing Audi, while the #111 CSA Racing Audi set the best average time in the Gold Cup class. Finally, in the Bronze Cup, it was the Porsche Rutronik Racing n°97 which will start from pole position in the category.
