The Lamera Cup could not have dreamed of a more grandiose setting than Mugello to end the season with a bang. And a thrilling scenario in every way to maintain the suspense until the end. At the end of the first wild round set over four hours of racing, the crew of Lamera 1 were all smiles.
« To say that this morning we were quite pessimistic ", one of the pilots told us. The replacement of the engine during the first tests did not bode well. That was without counting on the formidable efficiency of the mechanics who managed the feat of replacing the gas plant in 90 minutes. Which allowed us to compete in the qualifying session and hoist our car onto the 3rd row of the starting grid. Thanks to these unsung heroes. "
Four hours later, the 2023 title holders climbed onto the top step of the podium. Which doesn't mean they'll be champions, however. The 41 (Scania France) leading the championship when arriving at Mugello finished 2nd. As for the drivers of the 80 (Continental Racing), they don't intend to give up despite their 6th place.
« Our fate is no longer in our hands ", philosophized Gregory Fargier. " We give it our all. The proof: our best time in the race! And then, tomorrow is another day. We have often seen turnarounds in this Lamera Cup »
In the Pro-Am category, victory went to the Lamera 55 (GWR Castel-more) while the Lamera 29 (CTF Make) confirmed its dominance in the Gentlemen category. The rest, Sunday, for a 7-hour long race.
