GT500 title already awarded before last race

We did not have to wait until the final race of the season to find out the GT500 champions for the 2024 Super GT season, as the title was awarded during qualifying for the Suzuka 300km.

GT500 title already awarded before last race

By taking pole position for the Suzuka 300km, the final round of the 2024 Super GT season, Sho Tsuboi and Kenta Yamashita (Toyota No. 36 of the TOM'S team) secured the title in GT500, the flagship category of the Japanese Grand Touring Championship.

With this performance, Tsuboi has entered his name on the prize list for the second time in a row and above all has achieved a double with his title acquired in Super Formula this year, like Ritomo Miyata in 2023. It is also the second title in GT500 for Yamashita, already crowned with Lexus in 2019.

In GT300, the title is not yet decided. Frenchwoman Lilou Wadoux and her teammate Kei Cozzolino (PONOS) will start in 24th position with their Ferrari 296 for this last meeting of the season.
