Identical to last year's version, this Mortágua special stage has already reshuffled the deck. Sami Pajari set the fastest time at 09:12.6 whileAdrien fourmaux, who set the second fastest time on the special stage, has regained the overall lead. He now holds a full 4-second advantage over his compatriot and reigning World Champion. Sébastien OgierElfyn Evans is relegated to 8 tenths of a second behind Ogier in the provisional overall standings.
Meanwhile, Oliver Solberg lost considerable time on this stage, complaining in particular about the less-than-ideal handling of his car and tire package. The Swede slips to fourth place overall, two-tenths of a second behind Evans but already five seconds behind Adrien Fourmaux. In WRC2, Yohan Rossel and Arnaud Dunand, who finished third last night, logically lost ground. Starting in first position for Rally2, the two men had to break trail for the other Rally2 cars behind the Rally1s. They lost time on this stage and dropped to fifth in the category.
