Rally Portugal – SS12: Adrien Fourmaux sets the fastest time, Ogier extends his lead

Adrien Fourmaux set another fastest time at the Rally of Portugal, while Sébastien Ogier extended his lead in the overall standings. His advantage now stands at 5 seconds over Thierry Neuville.

Rally Portugal – SS12: Adrien Fourmaux sets the fastest time, Ogier extends his lead

The 19,91-kilometer twelfth special stage was still dry, while some had been expecting rain. Martins Sesks held the fastest time on the stage for a few minutes before Takamoto Katsuta snatched it from him. Then, a few moments later, Adrien fourmaux took control of the special stage and never relinquished it, thus setting a new best time on this rally. He is ahead Sébastien Ogier and Takamoto Katsuta, although his French counterpart had a close call…

Indeed, at the halfway point of the special stage, Sébastien Ogier had lost 1,5 seconds on Thierry NeuvilleThis meant that the overall gap between the two men was now only two tenths of a second. But in a very narrow final section, Sébastien Ogier managed to make the difference: the driver from Gap ultimately increased his lead to 5 seconds before SS13 of this Rally Portugal.

The main news from WRC2 concerns the time lost by Yohan Rossel and Arnaud Dunand. Struggling with their grip, they lost 10,4 seconds to Jan Solans on this stage. Solans remains the category leader after SS12, ahead of Teemu Suninen and Roope Korhonen.
