Sordo now leads the Rally from Greece with a 10″3 lead over Thierry Neuville. But given the situation of the two drivers (Sordo is part-time, Neuville leads the championship), it is not impossible to imagine seeing the former Citroën driver slow down to let his teammate pass. This is why he estimated at the finish that losing only 7″4 on Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) was not bad, keeping the gap between the two men well beyond the minute mark.
The eight-time World Champion was not very satisfied with the special, which was held on a different surface to what is usually seen at the Acropolis. Indeed, it is on a surface mainly composed of sand that the drivers must express themselves, where there are usually brittle stones that are hard on the mechanics. The consequence is clear, everyone complains of understeer and difficulties in entering the car into a bend.
Ott Tänak (Hyundai) is now forced to take no risks until the end of SS9, where he will be able to change his tires and, above all, take spare wheels. The Estonian no longer has any, since he suffered two punctures in SS7. In WRC2, Yohan Rossel achieved the scratch with a ten-second lead, allowing him to return to the podium in the general classification, overtaking Paraguayan Fabrizio Zaldivar. Sami Pajari continues to lead the category, ten seconds ahead of Robert Virves.
