With a comfortable margin at the top of the general classification (67 points) on Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari), Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) could be titled at the United States Grand Prix scheduled for Austin (Texas) from October 19 to 21.
The Briton must have a 75-point lead on the evening of the American round if he wants to obtain his fifth world title. Here are the different possible scenarios below.
Lewis Hamilton titled in Austin if…
– he wins the United States GP and Vettel finishes third
– he finished 2nd and Sebastian Vettel finished 5th
– he finished 3nd and Sebastian Vettel finished 7th
– he finished 4nd and Sebastian Vettel finished 8th
– he finished 5nd and Sebastian Vettel finished 9th
– he finished 6nd and Sebastian Vettel finished 10th
If Lewis Hamilton does not do better than seventh place, the title race will continue in Mexico (October 25-28).
