Alonso and Kobayashi at Wayne Taylor Racing at the 24 Hours of Daytona

Si Fernando Alonso took part in the 24 Hours of Daytona last January, it was with the sole objective of preparing for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. And even if the United Autosports Ligier JS P217 that he shared with Lando Norris and Phil Hanson only finished 38th due to mechanical issues, the Spaniard greatly enjoyed the experience.

So, when we ask him if he plans to return, he answers no without smiling: “My month of January is relatively free, the weather in Florida is good. At the moment, I only have four races on my program. » Namely the 1000 Miles of Sebring, the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, Indy 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Not one to fight for a category victory, the double world champion of F1 is targeting the premier category, the DPi, with LM P2 now being reserved for Pro-Am crews. Its base will be the No. 10 Cadillac of Wayne Taylor Racing, winner of the event in 2005 (under the name Suntrust Racing ) and 2017.

He will join the Dutchman Renger van der Zande and the American Jordan Taylor, starters for the season. To come and support them on this double clock tower, the Japanese Kamui Kobayashi, qui n’est autre que son compagnon d’écurie au sein du Toyota Gazoo Racing WEC, will be there.
