A new, unprecedented collaboration between two giants of American sport. Andretti Autosport and Wayne Taylor Racing announced a new long-term partnership on Wednesday. The two teams will combine their resources to compete in the higher categories of theIMSA, in GTP with Acura's new LMDh and in GTD. The No. 06 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-10 and the No. 22 Acura NSX Evo93 will make their official debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona on January 28-29. The newly formed team will also compete in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series.

The announcement of this new partnership reveals the outlines of the joint project between the two teams. During the 2023 IMSA Championship season, “Daily operations and management will remain as they have been conducted to date, with the long-term goal of moving the programs into Andretti Global's headquarters in Fishers, Indiana, which has been recently announced and which should be operational in 2025.”

A new commitment for Andretti

“This is an exciting time for us, said Michael Andretti, President and CEO of Andretti Autosport. We are proud to return to the IMSA paddock in this way and to be able to participate in the launch of the GTP program alongside Wayne Taylor Racing and our friends at Honda Performance Development. Returning to IMSA full time, and at this level, was one of my goals. I wanted it to be the right opportunity at the right time, and we found it. I look forward to working more closely with the WTR team and meeting all of the team's supporters. I want to personally thank Wayne (Taylor) and Travis (Houge) for already being such great partners as we plan for a successful future. » Andretti is thus entering yet another major championship, after IndyCar, the Formula E, Extreme E, the Supercars championship in Australia and the SuperCopa series in Mexico.

“It’s an honor to partner with a name like Andretti as we enter a new era of racing, underlines Wayne Taylor, owner of the eponymous team. I was approached by Michael (Andretti) a year ago and, as we all know, timing is everything, especially as our GTP and GTD programs continue to grow with Acura and HPD. Having worked with Michael on this project for almost a year, I am very excited to see it come to fruition. Although our 2023 program will not be much different, there is a lot Andretti Autosport can offer us as we continue to build and develop. I look forward to working more closely with Michael (Andretti), JF (Thormann), Rob (Edwards) and the entire Andretti team. »
