The Chip Ganassi Racing team will increase its commitment by IMSA to two DPi prototypes in 2022. The American team will still represent Cadillac's interests with the DPi-VRs, as is the case in 2021, but is strengthening with choice recruits.

They have already won their class (GTE Pro with Ford) at Le Mans. This is a world-class team and it's amazing to see what they've done in their first year with the Cadillac DPi-VR. I'm also excited to be racing in the premier class of the IMSA championship.

The New Zealander arrives with another GT regular in Endurance, Alexander Lynn. The winner of the 24 2020 Hours of Le Mans in GTE Pro with Aston Martin knows the Cadillac somewhat having taken it to success at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2017, at the time thanks to Wayne Taylor Racing.

“It's been a while since I drove this car, but it gave me good memories,” said the Englishman. I only raced it once and won at Sebring. I want to rekindle this emotion. I’m excited to race a full season in the car.
The goal is to win. I always dreamed of winning the big races in America. I was lucky to win Sebring. I'm hungry for the 24 Hours of Daytona and the championship! »

The two new recruits do not yet know what line-ups will be established this winter. We just know that Renger van der Zande is retained by the CGR, as is Sébastien Bourdais. The Frenchman knows the team particularly well, having been part of the Ford GT program between 2016 and 2019. And the Cadillac has no secrets for him; Le Manceau is one of the strong men of the JDC Miller MotorSports team (winner of the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2021).

“I’m super excited to be back with Chip Ganassi Racing,” Bourdais said. We've had our fair share of success in the past and I can't wait to start working with riders like Renger, Earl and Alex. This is obviously a turning point in my career, which will see me devoting most of my attention to sports car racing, but I remain within the GM family (compared to the end of its full seasons in IndyCar. Editor’s note). I can’t thank everyone involved enough for their trust and continued support. »
