Detroit – Qualifying: A new pole position for Bourdais

The last prototype poleman at Belle Isle is therefore Sébastien Bourdais. For the last time on the Detroit island circuit before heading to the city center of Michigan's largest city next year, Sébastien Bourdais battled until the final moments with Tom Blomqvist to set the best qualifying time in 1 :18.818 on the No. 01 Cadillac. The Frenchman beat the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura DPi by 0.110 seconds and the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura DPi by 0.127 seconds. This is the fourth pole position in six rounds for the Habs this season.

In GTD, it was the American Kyle Kirkwood who set the best time in the No. 3 Lexus RC F GT17 of VasserSullivan. The American, freshly announced at Andretti for the next IndyCar season, was very lively on this track this Friday since he also set the best time in the first Free Practice session of the American championship of car in 1:16.134 with the #14 from AJ Foyt Racing.
