Et soudain le ciel tomba sur Daytona. La cinquième et dernière séance d’Essais Libres du Roar, prévue sur deux heures et en nocturne, a été perturbée par les intempéries, provoquant notamment un drapeau rouge. Les téméraires furent peu nombreux à braver la pluie, le vent et le froid qui se sont abattus sur l’International Speedway avec seulement 27 classés au terme de la séance, sur 61 voitures engagées. La Porsche n°6 de Mathieu Jaminet, Nick Tandy et Dane Cameron en a profité pour inscrire le meilleur temps.
