La Ferrari 296 GT3 made his first laps this Tuesday on the Fiorani circuit with Italian drivers Alessandro Pier Guidi and Andrea Bertolini. He is the reigning champion of WEC in the GTE Pro category who had the privilege of performing the first shakedown, launching the development of the new Prancing Horse racing car, then leaving his place to the usual development driver of the firm Maranello. The day's program alternated between lap sessions and stages where the 296 GT3 was checked by the technicians.

“Today our future in GT racing has begun and it’s a special moment. We chose to carry out the first tests in Fiorano because it is our home and to allow the people who worked on the project to share a very special emotion. The car has an intense testing program ahead of it, but we have already had good feedback from this first session”, reacted Antonello Coletta, director of Ferrari's sporting activities in GT.

« We've already received a lot of praise for the car », he told us in Sebring (Florida) on the sidelines of the 1000 Miles of Sebring, first round of the 2022 WEC season. However, the most important thing is that it goes quickly. We think we've done a good job on this. » The Italian manufacturer is already spoiled for choice when it comes to using this car in competition, having received a number of requests from its usual customers (AF Corse, Risi Competizione, Kessel Racing, etc.) or others not yet developing in Ferrari.

The competition debut is planned for 2023. This new GT3 is the result of a collaboration between Ferrari and the French manufacturer Oreca.
