Felipe Nasr: Returning to IMSA was a wish

Not renewed at Sauber F1 Team for 2017, following in particular the withdrawal of its main sponsor Banco do Brasil, Felipe Nasr will have waited twelve months before finding a complete program. If the native of Brasilia has long hoped to return to F1 for 2018, it is ultimately on the side ofIMSA that an opportunity has emerged with Action Express Racing.

Nasr will be part of the Action Express Racing armada, and will drive the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Racing Cadillac DPi-VR for all rounds of the championship alongside Eric Curran.

The Brazilian did not wait long to make his mark this year, dominating the qualifying session for the Roar Before the Rolex 24, which determined the locations in the pit lane and garages for the next 24 Hours of Daytona (27- January 28).

In the scarecrow car of the field, Nasr beat Tristan Vautier (Cadillac DPi-VR n°90 – Spirit of Daytona) and set the benchmark time of the week. New career direction delights former British champion F3.

« Jwanted to be back here at IMSA, admits Nasr. When I ran here in 2012 (with Michael Shank Racing, with a third place), it was one of the best experiences of my career. The IMSA championship is growing.

There's such a strong field here, it's great for a racing driver to race at Daytona. Now I want to go for victory. »
