IMSA – Wayne Taylor Racing presents its Cadillac DPi-VR

Wayne Taylor Racing presented the livery of its Cadillac DPi-VR with which it will compete in the 2017 season.IMSA. The chassis made by Dallara will be lined up for the 24 Hours of Daytona on January 28 and 29 with a very solid crew since Ricky and Jordan Taylor will be accompanied by Max Angelelli and the four-time champion of the Nascar Sprint Cup Jeff Gordon.

“I must first of all say that I am most excited to return with Cadillac after having driven with their Le Mans prototypes from 2000 to 2002, recalled Wayne Taylor, the owner of the stable of the same name. I feel like we still have things to achieve together. The new Konica Minlta Cadillac DPi-VR really impressed me on the track. We feel we can win the Championship with this car. »

“It's a whole new experience to drive with this car, I've never experienced that in my career, commented Ricky Taylor. This car is much lighter than the Morgan LMP2 I drove at Le Mans a few years ago. It generates more downforce and brings a lot of confidence in fast corners. »

“It’s been really cool working on the development of the new Cadillac, added Jordan Taylor. When we were the first to do the shakedown at Putnam Park (Connecticut), I was the first to get behind the wheel. It's definitely a different car than what I'm used to. The DPs we ran with were heavy, imposing and moved a lot. The Cadillac DPi-VR has much neater aero, like an LMP2. »

“It’s fantastic to get back behind the wheel of a car that has so much downforce and braking. I probably haven't driven anything like this since I got behind the wheel of a F1 at Indianapolis in 2003. The Cadillac DPi-VR is a nice car with which I was able to do a few laps before the official tests at Daytona », underlined Jeff Gordon.

The official IMSA tests will take place this Tuesday December 13 and Wednesday December 14 at Daytona.
