IMSA – Rebellion dominates the first day of the Roar at Daytona

For its return to the United States, Rebellion Racing did not miss its debut on the Daytona track which will host the double round of the clock on January 28 and 29. During the first day of testing for the Roar Before the Rolex 24 in Florida, Neel Jani's Oreca 07 – Sébastien Buemi – Nick Heidfeld – Stéphane Sarrazin dominated the two sessions on the program with a best cumulative time set in 1'39″160 by Jani in the afternoon.

The Var prototypes achieve the double since the Oreca 07 of JDC-Miller Motorsports of Goikhberg – Miller – Simpson – Beche rises to second place at 274 thousandths.

The Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-VR of Ricky and Jordan Taylor, Max Angelelli and Jeff Gordon took third place more than eight tenths ahead of the PR217/Mathiasen Ligier JS P1 of Gutiérrez – Guasch – Kimber-Smith – Enerson and the Oreca 07 DragonSpeed Stone - Duval – Hedman – Hanley, clocked at 1″166.

After an unproductive first session in terms of laps, the Mazda RT24-Ps were finally able to perform almost normally on the Florida track, with the 7th and 11th times for the Mazda Motorsports prototypes.

Champions Dane Cameron and Eric Curran, assisted by the duo Conway – Morris in the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi-VR concluded the second session almost two seconds behind the best time.

BAR1 Motorsports dominated the day in PC with the Oreca FLM09 of Mowlem – Merzon – Hindman – Boulle – Papadopoulos ahead of the sister car of Rice – Yount – Yacaman – Ducote – Kvamme.

After being dominated during the first session by Corvette, the Ford GTs of Chip Ganassi Racing regained the lead in the second session, but with a lap set in 1'44″773 DIrk Müller – Joey Hand – Sébastien Bourdais were unable to improve the best time signed by Jan Magnussen (Corvette) in the morning in 1'44″760.

Stevenson Motorsports set the best cumulative time in GTD with the No. 8 Audi R57 LMS of Aschenbach – Liddell – Davis – Bell in 1’47″553. Shane van Gisbergen hoists the Mercedes-AMG GT3 from WeatherTech Racing in second place.
