Jimmie Johnson and his busy winter

Recently retired from Nascar where he won 7 titles, Jimmie Johnson does not lead a peaceful life. At 45, the American decided to pursue his career in other disciplines.

Expected in IndyCar this year, the emblematic No. 48 of the American ovals also lends itself to the game of endurance. Indeed, he will participate in the next 24 Hours of Daytona (January 30-31).

" I I will say that this is the busiest offseason I have experienced so far., he explains on the Daytona circuit website. I was behind the wheel of an IndyCar at the end of the Nascar season and then a prototype.

There are also simulator sessions, whether for IndyCar or the prototype, seats to be molded. You also have to get to know the team members, the systems, and attend meetings. By far my busiest winter ».

In Florida, Jimmie Johnson has the chance to work with well-known faces since part of the team is operated by Hendrick Motorsports, his former Nascar team. He notably finds Chad Knaus there, his traditional racing engineer.

« There are a few people from Hendrick Motorsports and they are a pleasure to work with. Chad is involved. He works on computers to help us find the best settings (...) It's awesome ».

This weekend, the Californian will be accompanied by Kamui Kobayash, Mike Rockenfeller and Simon Pagendaud aboard the No. 48 Action Express. Second in 2005 and 2008, Jimmie Johnson hopes to finally win his first 24 Hours of Daytona. Will the eighth be the right one? See you on Sunday.
