On October 8 and 9, for the penultimate round of the WeatherTech SportCar season which will take place at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) as part of the Michelin GT Challenge, the Weather Tech Racing team has decided to field Cooper MacNeil and Kevin Estre. The Frenchman, who has not participated in an event on American soil since the 24 Hours of Daytona (last January), will become the third teammate of the season for the American, succeeding Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet. The native of Lyon, impatient to drive on the VIR track, had already participated in this event in 2014. “I’m really happy to return to VIR. I raced IMSA GT in 2014. It didn't go well, but I really like the track. There are a lot of risks in a fast ride, but with good aerodynamics of the Porsche 911 RSR, it makes a track more fun and faster for a driver. It’s a short weekend, so we need to have error-free practice, a good race strategy and we can come away with a result.”

At the beginning of September, Kévin Estre carried out tests on the VIR track, located in North Carolina, aboard the Porsche RSR. “We tested the car on the track at the beginning of September, but it was quite hot. The Porsche WeatherTech performed well and we followed our program. I think it will be cooler for our race weekend. It was good to get a few laps on the track after six years »Winner at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (2019) and the 24 Nürburgring (2021), the Frenchman will be keen to shine for his return to American competition.
