Mazda and Corvette on pole at Watkins Glen

Oliver Jarvis showed himself to be imperial in qualifying this Saturday at Watkins Glen (New York) by signing an authoritative pole position with the No. 24 Mazda RT77-P of Team Joest.

The Briton completed his best lap in 1'29″6″9, and is more than two tenths ahead of Dane Cameron (Acura AR-05 n°6 – Acura Team Penske). The second ARX-05 n°7 of Ricky Taylor and Helio Castroneves will share the second row of the grid with the second Mazda RT24-P n°55, entrusted to the Bomarito – Tincknell – Pla trio.

In the No. 85 Cadillac DPi-VR – JDC-Miller, Tristan Vautier and his teammates Misha Goikhberg and Juan Piedrahita will start 9th behind the best LM P2, the No. 07 Oreca 52 – PR1 Mathiasen de Aubry – McMurry – Lux.

The Dumas – Bennett – Braun trio brings up the rear in DPi / LM P2 with the #54 Nissan DPi – CORE Autosport.

Garcia alone in the world

In GTLM, Corvette Racing, with Antonio Garcia, struck a major blow, the Spaniard remaining the only driver under 1'40" per lap. The driver of the C7.R n°3, shared with Jan Magnussen, set his benchmark time in 1'40″799, more than three tenths ahead of the No. 67 Ford GT – Chip Ganassi Racing from Westbrook – Briscoe.

The two Acura NSX GT3s n°86 and n°57 from Meyer Shank Racing dominated the GTD field, Trent Hindman being the fastest in 1'44"978, ahead of Christian Nielsen, who leads the 100% female crew of the No. 57.

The 6 Hours of Watkins Glen will begin tomorrow, Sunday, at 15:45 p.m. French time.
