Philippe Dumas leaves Ligier Automotive

Ligier Automotive will have to cope without its Deputy General Director Philippe Dumas, at the start of this 2019 season. The main party confirmed the information this Monday morning, via a press release. “After the Hexis Racing adventure, punctuated by an FIA world title, I wanted to discover sports prototypes, American races and endurance. Jacques Nicolet gave me all three, comments Philippe Dumas.

I will never thank him enough for that and for the trust he quickly showed in me. We developed two cars, initiated a restructuring of the company, organized ambitious operations with private teams and wrote some pages of history by winning an FIA title WEC LMP2 and great classics: Daytona, Sebring, Petit Le Mans…I also and above all experienced unique moments with people of inestimable professional competence and bearers of rare human values.

My only regret is not having won the LMP2 category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It really didn't go far, from my first attempt in 2014, but in the back of my mind I have the idea of winning this race one day, preferably overall. »

Philippe Dumas, who mainly officiated in IMSA in recent years around the commitment of Nissan DPi – Onroak Automotive, operated by the ESM structure, says it is ready to study all possible opportunities, and not only in the field of endurance.
