Isotta Franschini's project seems to be taking shape. The Italian manufacturer has revealed some additional information regarding its future Hypercar, the Tipo 6, which should be entered in the world championship ofEndurance 2023 soon. Discreetly announced last October, the LMH of the Milanese structure has revealed its technical characteristics and the list of its suppliers for its next mount.

A hybrid system close to LMDh for Isotta Fraschini

This new Hypercar, named Tipo 6, would be a hybrid car weighing 1 kg, with a six-cylinder 000° V engine producing 90 horsepower, associated with a 700 kW electric motor (or 200 horsepower) at the front for total power estimated at around 270 horsepower. To enter into the regulations WEC, the authorized power will be limited to 500 KW (or 680 horsepower). The tank capacity would be 90 liters and the Michelin tires should be sized 31/71/81, like Peugeot but contrary to Toyota.

The seven-speed gearbox will be supplied by Xtrac. The Tipo 6 will use Brembo brakes, a Pankl transmission and Multimatic suspensions. The battery will be supplied by Williams. Isotta's hybrid system, very similar to that used for LMDh, should be entrusted to Bosch.

Isotta Fraschini's Hypercar would be presented in February in Milan before its hoped-for debut at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, for what will be only the third round of the 2023 calendar after Sebring and Portimão. A strange project which we will have to wait a little longer before knowing if it will really see the light of day…
