6 hours of Spa-H+1: Toyota leads the way in Spa

The first moments of the 6 Hours of Spa event were largely animated by the fight in LM P1, initiated as soon as the lights went out.

At the start, André Lotterer (Porsche 919 Hybrid n°1) maintains the advantage despite the attempt to overtake Nicolas lapierre (Toyota TS050 Hybrid n°9), braking at the Source hairpin.

The Frenchman, returned to the fold of the Japanese manufacturer for this Spa event and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, pulls straight after a wheel lock before finally returning to the correct trajectory having lost two positions in its off-road passage.

A few minutes later, the No. 7 Toyota of Mike conway takes the advantage over the n°8, entrusted for this first stint to the Swiss Sébastien Buemi.

After around twenty minutes, the fight concentrates for first place. Mike Conway attempted a first attack on Lotterer while braking at the Bus stop, but the Porsche driver defended his position all the way to the Source. Conway then temporarily ceded his second position to Buemi, before recovering his property in Les Combes.

A lap later, Conway's attack at the Bus stop was successful this time, and the Briton took the lead of the race, while Lotterer began to suffer from the degradation of his tires.

Buemi then took the advantage over Lotterer when braking at La Source to gain second place, before Brendon Hartley (Porsche 919 Hybrid n°2) did not overtake the pole-sitter a few minutes later.

After 45' of racing, Toyota initiates the round of pit stops, with the leading number 7, followed by the number 1 Porsche. No change of tires at Toyota, when Nick Tandy takes over from André Lotterer, with a change of tires for the No. 919 1 Hybrid.

The No. 050 TS7 Hybrid of Conway currently leads the race with an 11″ lead over the No. 050 TS8 Hybrid of Sébastien Buemi.

Brendon Hartley retains third place with the #919 Porsche 2 Hybrid ahead of Nick Tandy (#919 Porsche 1 Hybrid), who is around ten seconds ahead of the third #050 Toyota TS9 Hybrid of Nicolas Lapierre.
