Button absent at Sebring and Spa

Jenson Button will not play the entire Super Season WEC. The 2009 champion of F1 will miss the next two events with the 1000 Miles of Sebring (March 16-17) and the 6 Hours of Spa (May 3-4). The Briton will take the wheel of the SMP Racing BR1 in the race during the 24 Hours of Le Mans June 15 and 16.

The old pilot McLaren will be retained due to a clash of dates with the Super GT where he will defend his title acquired this year with Honda.

“It was clear that it was not going to be easy to combine my participation in WEC and Super GT, explained Jenson Button. At the same time, riding for SMP Racing is a huge opportunity that I couldn’t refuse even if I was going to have to miss certain events. The podium won in Shanghai (3rd) is a tremendous success for our team and we will continue to do our best to achieve the best results within our reach. »

SMP Racing has not yet revealed the identity of Jenson Button's replacement for the 1000 Miles of Sebring and the 6 Hours of Spa.
