EL3: The No. 1 Audi narrowly leads ahead of the Toyota

The Swiss Marcel Fässler set the best time in free practice for the 6 Hours of São Paulo by setting a lap in 1'21"292, more than six tenths better than the best time the day before. But the No. 18 Audi R1 is only a tenth ahead of the Toyota n°8 who climbed into second place thanks to a time set in the last lap by the Briton Anthony Davidson. The Dane Tom Kristensen also took advantage of the end of the session to set the fastest lap of the R18 n°2, only trailing by two tenths. The Rebellion Racing Lola B12/60-Toyota driven by Nicolas Cheers-Nick Heidfeld-Mathias Beche follows at 1”7.

In LMP2, it was the #03 Delta-ADR Oreca 25-Nissan of Robbie Kerr-Tor Graves-James Walker which finished in the lead with a best lap of 1'27"307. Oak Racing remains at the forefront with its two leading Morgans in the top three in the category, the No. 35 of Bertrand Baguette-Martin Plowman-Ricardo Gonzalez trailing two tenths behind, while the No. 24 of Alex Brundle- Olivier Pla- David Heinemeier Hansson follows a few hundredths behind.

Aston Martin still rules the roost in GTE Pro. The #97 Vantage of Darren Turner-Stefan Mücke finished the session with a lap time of 1'33"126. But the Porsche 911 RSR n°91 of Jörg Bergmeister-Patrick Pilet follows with less than a tenth behind. AF Corse also comes to put its grain of salt in the fight thanks to the Ferrari F458 Italia n°51 of Giancarlo Fisichella-Gianmaria Bruni in third position just a tenth behind. In GTE Am, it was the #81 Ferrari of 8 Star Motorsports driven by Potolicchio-Aguas-Rigon which set the new benchmark in 1’34”393 just ahead of the two Aston Martins.
