Glickenhaus wants to enter two 007s at the 24 Hours of Le Mans

If everyone is talking about the arrival of LMDh in 2022, the near future ofEndurance has for no Le Mans Hypercar (LMH), cars with which the first mentioned will scrap in the premier category.

Indeed, the LMHs will land in WEC from the 2021 WEC season, which will begin in mid-March in Sebring (Florida). On this occasion, three competitors are expected: Toyota, ByKolles and the Team Cameron Glickenhaus.

Of the three, it is the American who gets the most attention. Today, he announced that the engineering part of the chassis was already completed and that wind tunnel tests have even already been carried out in a famous tunnel, with results which, according to those concerned, would be , very conclusive.

Tests of the twin-turbo V8 – the work of Pipo Engines – should begin next month, while the first laps of the 007 are planned for the end of 2020.

Until then, nothing new compared to what James Glickenhaus told us during an interview a few weeks ago (See Ah n°2262).

No, the novelty comes from the fact that SCG will not enter one but two 007s in the first three rounds of the 2021 WEC season, namely the 1000 miles of Sebring, the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. For the future, everything will depend on finances and therefore on partners.

« This is a pleasing announcement which highlights the appeal of our new premier category. », underlines the President of the ACO Pierre Fillon.
