Tire allocation changed with the arrival of the Hyperpole

By modifying the course of qualifying this year, with the introduction of the Hyperpole for the six best classified in each LM P1, LM P2, GTE Pro and GTE Am category at the end of the first qualifying rounds, the ACO was forced to to review the tire allocation for the 2020 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In addition to the 24 tires in LM P1 and LM P2 and the 28 in GTE Pro and GTE Am for testing, first qualifying and warm-up, eight tires will be allocated to competitors competing in the Hyperpole. Enough to get the best possible performance for pole position.

In the race, the LM P1s will be able to count on 48 tires, compared to 56 for the LM P2s and 60 for the two GTE Pro and GTE Am categories.
