Less than a month before his debut in the race for 1000 Miles of Sebring, Ferrari 499P completed two days of testing at the Autodromo di Monza, the circuit which will host the fifth round of the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship next July.
At the wheel of the Hypercar from the Maranello manufacturer were the six drivers who will participate in the 2023 season of the WEC and the Centenary of 24 Hours of Le Mans : Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen, the trio that makes up the crew of 499P number 50; as well as Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi, who will share the cockpit of the 51.
« Testing our Hypercar on a historic circuit such as Monza, less than a month before its debut, is a valuable opportunity to continue refining the car, comments Miguel Molina. We are satisfied with the work accomplished, even if each test highlights details that still need to be understood and resolved before official competitions. The Italian circuit is a good point of reference, both in terms of performance – given the high speeds that can be reached – and general balance, given that it includes two corners that require very hard braking. »
It was the 499P's second outing in the Italian Temple of Speed after a first contact last October, in the days leading up to the car's official presentation at the Ferrari Finali Mondiali. The Prancing Horse Hypercar development program will continue through the Prologue, scheduled for March 11-12 at Sebring International Raceway, Florida. First race meeting, March 17, for the 1000 Miles of Sebring.
