The Porsche 919 Evo meets the 917/30

While the two frames are more than 4 decades apart, they have some similarities. These Porsches are both evolved versions, the 917/30 coming from the first version which won the brand's first two victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970 and 1971 before the regulations changed by banning 5l 12-cylinder engines.

The Porsche 917/30 weighed only 800kg, but its 12la V5.4 reached the monstrous power of 1230hp! As with the 919 Evo, the Spyder had its last moment of glory by setting a track record. Mark Donohue completed a lap of the 4,27km Talladega Superspeedway (Alabama) at an average speed of 355,78km/h (Vmax recorded at 382km/h), retaining the record for several years.
