The ACO reviews two points of regulation

Before publishing the new 2011 regulations later this year, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest brought together different manufacturers in Paris to inform them of different technical options for the seasons to come. The ACO thus announced the new engines but above all wanted to specify two specific points: the removal of the restriction on cars closed in 2011 and a clarification concerning the GT 1 2010 regulations.

Concerning the removal of the flange advantage for closed cars in 2011, the ACO confirms that “the aerodynamic advantages linked to this type of bodywork now compensate for the constraints linked to maintaining a maximum temperature in the passenger compartment. The LM P prototypes with an open or closed body will therefore start on an equal footing. »

“Moreover, the extension of the duration of pit stops no longer gives an advantage to open cars as in the past,” we can read in the press release. All these observations have led the ACO to clarify this point of regulation so that manufacturers can anticipate their choice? closed or open car – for the construction of the new 2011 prototypes.

Finally, with regard to the 1 GT 2010 regulations, the ACO specified that "cars eligible for the new GT 1 world championship would be accepted at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in the Le Mans series in 2010. » This point also allowed the ACO to collect written commitments from three manufacturers for 2010 with new cars.
