Le Mans – H+4: Porsche n°2 in the garage

The 85e edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans experienced its first turning point with the mechanical problem encountered by the Porsche No. 2 by Earl Bamber. The 919 Hybrid was returned to the garage following the loss of the front transmission and found itself out of contention for victory.

The second Porsche driven by Nick Tandy rose to second place ahead of the Toyota n°8 by Anthony Davidson who lost time by being slowed down by traffic and a “slow zone”. The 919 Hybrid still on the track took the advantage after the final stops.

Kamui Kobayashi remains in the lead of the race on the No. 7 Toyota which has more than half a minute ahead of its closest rival.

Vaillante Rebellion dominates LMP2

The Oreca 07s of Vaillante Rebellion remain at the head of LMP2. David Heinemeier-Hansson is in command of the category in the #13 which is around ten seconds ahead of Julien Canal's sister car #31. Thomas Laurent recovered well by placing the No. 38 Jackie Chan DC Racing back in the top three, half a minute behind the category leaders. the No. 24 CEFC Manor TRS Racing of Jonathan Hirschi and the No. 37 Jackie Chan DC Racing of David Cheng complete the LMP2 top five.

François Perrodo went off the track in Indianapolis at the wheel of the #28 TDS Racing car. Matthieu Vaxivière replaced him and is currently in 15th place in the category.

Ford resumes Aston Martin in GTE Pro

Billy Johnson took the lead in GTE Pro at the wheel of the #66 Ford GT which is now ahead of the #97 Aston Martin of Jonathan Adam, itself followed by the #67 Ford of Luis Felipe Derani. The #95 Vantage of Marco Sorensen suffered a puncture in the Mulsannes and fell to last position in the category. Richie Stanaway is now behind the wheel.

Michael Christensen spun in the #92 Porsche following contact with the #64 Corvette of Marcel Fässler.

Dries Vanthoor took the lead in GTE Am at the wheel of the Ferrari No. 84 of JMW Motorsport but he is closely followed by the No. 98 Aston Martin of Mathias Lauda.
