Le Mans – The No. 9 Toyota retires!

The misfortunes continue for Toyota Gazoo Racing. After the abandonment of the TS050 Hybrid n°7 de Conway-Kobayashi-Sarrazin, it’s the turn of the n°9 driven by Nicolas lapierre to see his race end. The Frenchman who was in second place one lap behind the Porsche No. 1 of Nick Tandy suffered a burst left rear tire and a fire.

Nicolas Lapierre was hit from behind by a competitor, the Toyota driver suddenly spinning before the Dunlop chicane. He is now stopped near the Ronnement chicane. The team warned him that he would no longer be able to enter the pits. This is the second TS050 Hybrid to be abandoned in the same hour.

The Oreca 07s of Vaillante Rebellion could find themselves on the provisional podium of the general classification, the n°31 of Nicolas Cheers still ahead of the #13 of Mathias Beche with 5 laps behind the #9 Toyota which is struggling to return to the pits.

The safety car was called to the track. There are 54 cars left in the race.
