The 24 2013 Hours of Le Mans postponed

The Automobile Club de l'Ouest had indicated that the dates of the 81st edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans were set for June 15 and 16. Nevertheless, the FIA, partner within the framework of the Championship WEC, asked the ACO to carry out a one-week postponement in order to achieve better consistency in the global motorsport calendar. The 90th anniversary of the Le Mans event will therefore be celebrated on June 22 and 23, 2013, the first edition having been contested on May 26 and 27, 1923.

The Test Day will be held two weeks before the race, on Sunday June 9, while the Weigh-In ceremony will be organized on Sunday June 16 and Monday June 17. Audi will try to achieve a 12th victory at the Sarthe double clock to get closer to the supreme record of Porsche which still has 16 successes. But Toyota will have a say and intends to complicate the task of the Ingolstadt manufacturer. This will be the 15th time in 81 races that the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be contested at the end of the 25th week of the calendar.
