Trapped by cold tires during his exit lap Sunday morning during the Sebring Prologue, James Calado lost control of the No. 499 Ferrari 51P and ended up in the barriers. Damaged, the red and yellow prototype prematurely ended its weekend during this accident, the engineers of Maranello tackling repairs and checking the chassis for the rest of the day.

After completing their analysis, the Scuderia decided to replace the latter with a new one for the 1000 Miles of Sebring, opening round of the season, of which Free Practice 1 takes place this Wednesday afternoon. Despite everything, this does not seem to have changed much for Ferrari in view of the first event of the calendar, synonymous with a return to prototypes for the Italian brand after half a century of absence.

« Everything is going well, despite the problem we encountered during the Prologue, judge Ferdinando Cannizzo, the technical director of the program. This did not change our program for the race. The first race of the 499P is an exciting moment. The team has worked hard from the start, with commitment, professionalism and passion. We will now see the results of our efforts. »

« We are ready to start this new adventure, adds Antonello Coletta, director of sporting activities at Ferrari. This is an important moment for all of us, for Ferrari, our drivers and the fans. There are a lot of expectations, but we are aware that the path will not be easy, especially in the first races, and that the start of the adventure in the Hypercar class could be difficult. If we can get on the podium at Sebring, that would be a great result. »
