Porsche completes one last rehearsal

Title holder in Sarthe, Porsche hopes to keep its property on June 19 when the checkered flag will be lowered on the 84th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In order to complete its preparation, the German team completed a final major rehearsal a few days ago on the Motorland of Aragon track in Spain.

8427 km (the equivalent of more than one and a half times the distance covered at Le Mans last year by the LM P1 winner Hulkenberg – Tandy – Bamber), were covered by the six drivers this year, Mark Webber, Brendon Hartley, Timo Bernhard, Marc Lieb, Romain Dumas and Neel Jani.

“Our program was a mix of endurance and performance tests, day and night. A real race simulation like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, comments Andreas Seidl, Team Principal of Porsche Team. We checked all the boxes. We feel ready, knowing that the race will be difficult. »

The world champions were not spared from mechanical problems at the start of the season in the World Championship.Endurance, with a recalcitrant hybrid system on the No. 2 at Spa, and a puncture leading to problems with the front differential.

You can find our Guide to the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2016 now in digital version, and on newsstands.
