WEC – Porsche #17 wins with instructions at Fuji
Porsche achieves another double at the 6 Hours of Fuji after once again dominating the race. The first part was contested on a wet track, the start even having been made with the safety car.
If the No. 919 18 Hybrid was able to win, the German manufacturer preferred to win the No. 17 Bernhard-Hartley-Webber so that its leading crew takes control of the Drivers classification for one point ahead of the trio Tréluyer-Fässler-Lotterer, third in the Japanese round with the #7 Audi. THE Toyota have never yet been able to compete for the places of honor with the R18 e-tron quattro and finish behind the n°8 of Di Grassi-Duval-Jarvis.
The LMP2s livened up the 6 Hours of Fuji with a superb duel between G-Drive Racing and KCMG. But after numerous contacts between Richard Bradley's Oreca 05 and the two Ligier JS P2s, the No. 47 hit the safety rail after a questionable maneuver by Guastavo Yacaman, driver of the No. 26 Ligier who completed the podium behind theAlpine A450b from Panciatici-Chatin-Capillaire which finished in the top three in the category for the first time this season.
AF Corse wins in GTE Pro with the Ferrari #51 of Bruni-Vilander, but the Italian team narrowly missed the double due to the overtaking of Patrick Pilet, driver of the #911 92 RSR, on the #458 F71 Italia of Calado-Rigon. Dempsey-Proton Racing takes victory in GTE Am with the No. 911 77 RSR of Dempsey-Long-Seefried.
