WEC – Team SARD Morand confirms its program

As we mentioned to you in issue 1989 of AUTOhebdo, Morand Racing will field two Morgans in WEC this season. The Swiss team has joined forces with Team Sard (Sigma Advanced Racing Development) to launch itself at the global level ofEndurance. “For a young team like ours, it is an honor to be able to link our destiny to that of SARD. The long history of SARD has demonstrated that this team has always been looking for new challenges, combining a professional spirit and a family atmosphere”, declared Benoît Morand, the Team Principal of the team of the same name.

Team SARD Morand has already confirmed Pierre ragues and Oliver Webb on one of the two Dunlop-shod Morgan V8 SARDs, the second being reserved for Christian Klien and Koki Saga from Super Formula and Super GT. The crews will be finalized in the coming weeks. ?It?s a great satisfaction to have seen a private team starting out in ELMS in 2013 to gain momentum to become victorious in 2014”, commented the Austrian who has been playing with Morand Racing for two seasons. ?My goal was to join the FIA WEC and to achieve it with the team I raced with for the last two years is even better. SARD has incomparable experience in sports prototypes, while Benoît Morand has demonstrated his talent in ELMS and 24 Hours of Le Mans. The combination of these two passionate teams offers a great opportunity to become a leading WEC team. »

Team SARD Morand will aim for the LMP2 podium this season before reassessing its objectives upwards next year. This association therefore rests on solid foundations and seems to be envisaged over a long period.
