Zak Brown: “The legislator’s mission is far from easy”

What is your opinion on the vagueness surrounding the future technical regulations of the premier category of theEndurance ?

Le Mans is a great race and the WEC a great series. But the legislator's mission is far from easy, because the manufacturers involved in the discussions have diverse opinions, budgets and different technologies.

I am confident that an agreement allowing legendary manufacturers to fight for overall victory will be found. Depending, among other things, on the regulations and what we do in F1, then we will decide whether or not to commit, and if so, when.

Are you in favor of accepting road-going Hypercars?

I would like something that combines the technology and look of a McLaren that we might build in the future.

Do you set a decision deadline?

I think we will know more about the regulations between now and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (mid-June. Editor’s note). We do not have a deadline, but once the regulations are approved and we have made our decision, several years will be needed to develop a car capable of meeting them. Even if the regulations suit us, then we will be away for a few more years.
