22 Grands Prix per year – Ecclestone is thinking about it

Bernie Ecclestone is deep in thought. The big man of the Formula 1 are already working on next year's calendar. If the season which is about to begin has only 19 races, that of 2014 is already at 21. Barring any further surprises, the Grand Prix of the Americas in New Jersey, originally planned for this year but canceled due to delays in the work, should appear next year. Another new entry, Formula 1 will visit Russia for the first time, with an event held in November in Sochi.

Furthermore, Grands Prix in Mexico and Thailand have often been mentioned next season and Bernie Ecclestone no longer hides his interest in making a return to South Africa. Two new entries therefore, and three projects considered serious which must be added to the 19 Grands Prix already existing. However, the problem is that the big money maker of the premier category has always set a limit for 20 races maximum per year.

But in the columns of the British newspaper City Mag it seems he has changed his mind. “Teams could complete 22 races”, he believes, before discussing a new project: “If I had to choose, I would like to come back to South Africa, and particularly to Cape Town. I received an offer for Durban but I think Cape Town would be better. » And the French Grand Prix in all this?
