This was the big question hanging over the Singapore Grand Prix: Alexander albon will he be able to continue the weekend at the Marina Bay circuit? The Thai returned to the wheel on Friday for the first two free practice sessions, three weeks after complications linked to his appendectomy. Tests that look like physical tests for the pilot Williams.

At the end of the first day, the news was rather positive. " I'm doing well ! » said a smiling Alexander Alobon in the mixed zone. “We knew it was going to be difficult, but I feel like I'm doing better than I expected. We had a good amount of long stints. It's only a quarter of what we would do on race day on Sunday, but I still have a day of preparation tomorrow (…). I hope it won't be too bad. »

“I feel good, it’s more the heat that’s the problem!” » confides Albon

On social networks, the Williams team confirmed that the Thai driver will be there for the rest of the weekend in Singapore. On one of the most difficult Grands Prix of the year, due to the tortuous Marina Bay track and the weather conditions, Alexander Albon declared that he adapted rather easily despite his truncated preparation. “I feel good when I'm in the car, generally. It's the heat that's the problem! When you go out you can feel it's very physical. But I feel like there are no big problems so I feel pretty good” confided the member of the fold Red Bull.

Comfortable in the car, Alexander Albon also seems competitive at Marina Bay despite Williams struggling on this type of circuit. The No. 23 took the 16th time in Free Practice 2, far ahead of his teammate Nicholas latifi, good last.
