Alfa Romeo Sauber presents the C37

The team now called Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team has revealed its mount for the 2018 season Formula 1. As predicted by the car used during a press conference in December, the car is decorated in white and deep red, with a touch of navy blue.

La C37 (that's its name) will be driven by the beginner Charles Leclerc, outgoing champion of the Formula 2, and the Swede Marcus Ericsson, four discreet seasons under his belt including three with the Swiss team (18th place in 2015).

The Team Principal of the team, Frederic Vasseur, shows confidence before the start of the season. “I am convinced that Marcus and Charles form the ideal pair, with an experienced driver and a promising beginner. Marcus is a key part of our team, and we benefit from his experience and his very precise technical feedback. Charles has proven his worth in the lower categories and fully deserves his place. Our objective for 2018 is clear: we have to catch up with the peloton and continue to improve our performance throughout the year”, continues the French boss.

Visually, the side air inlets have been greatly modified compared to its big sister. We note the appearance of a small opening above the classic entrance. Location of the air box on the engine cover has been moved back and is now behind the central pillar (supporting the on-board camera). Few sponsors are listed on the bodywork, apart from the arrival of watchmaker Richard Mille announced on Monday.

Alfa Romeo Sauber technical director Jörg Zander confirms the aesthetic impression. “The philosophy of the C37 is considerably different from the C36 of 2017. The aero concept has evolved significantly, and the C37 has several more appendages compared to the C36. We are confident, this new concept should offer us more opportunities. The engine block Ferrari version 2018 should also provide a boost in performance. »
