Alguersuari had turned down an F1 offer

Red Bull decided to replace the drivers Toro Rosso last December with Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo in place of Jaime Alguersuari and Sébastien Buemi. If the Swiss was able to retain a role as test driver for the Red Bull, his former Spanish teammate finds himself without a program for this year. The latter revealed that he had refused an offer for this season, convinced that he would still be with Toro Rosso in 2012. He criticizes for the first time the attitude of his former employer.

“I had received verbal confirmation for the Brazilian GP from Red Bull and I rejected a very good offer”, says Jaime Alguersuari. “When Red Bull Racing told me that I was no longer part of the family on December 13, I said that I did not judge them and that I did not want to make myself seem like a victim. But they hurt me and it wasn't necessary. I will never pay for a steering wheel. I had several discussions last month with one of the top teams which could be decisive for my future. I had contacted HRT but it was not an option for me. The team does not have a car for me today and I cannot liquidate my inheritance to improve a car which will continue to stay far on the grid. »
